Forging a Legend is a Side Quest in Fallout 76. Side Quests can provide various of rewards from XP to caps. They are displayed under the section "SIDE" of the Pip-Boy.

Forging a Legend Walkthrough
To start this mission, listen to the "Blade of Bastet" Holotape once you've started Novice of Mysteries. Head to The White Spring Resort located west of Riverside Manor and make your way towards the Presidential Cottage, head inside the main entrance and immediately turn right where you will see a long cabinet sitting next to a piano - approach the cabinet to acquire the Presidential Cottage Password. Now, head the opposite direction where you entered to find the historic sword locked in a case. With the password in hand, log in the terminal sitting next to the case, run through the written logs and select "Staff Access" and then "Display Case Access". You will now be able to acquire Grant's Saber which is the historic sword, collect the item and head back to Riverside Manor.
Once you've arrived, make your way down to the facility and use the fabricator to craft a Swing Analyzer followed by using the Weapon Workbench to combine the Swing Analyzer to Grant's Saber.
Now, next is to test the weapon by killing six different types of enemies. You can complete this in two ways, (1) you can simply explore new locations to find most of the targets or (2) proceed with finding the next items in other quests in Chasing Shadows and Prototypical Problems and eliminate the enemies encountered along the way using Grant's Saber - whichever you decide you will still end up with completing the task.
After you've killed six different types of enemies, return to the facility in Riverside Manor and use the fabricator to forge the Blade of Bastet resulting in the completion of this quest. Next is, Prototypical Problems
Notes & Notable Loot
- You may be able to find a Stealth Boy which you will need to forge a Phantom Device - head to the 2nd level of the Presidential's cottage wherein one of the rooms you will find a corpse of a skeleton lying inside a shower room. Approach the corpse to acquire the item.
