Firefighter - Brains
Southeast of the AVR Medical Center, is the Charleston Fire Department, and your next location. Once you arrive, you'll need to sit the Fire Breather Knowledge Exam to be initiated into the Fire Breathers, the first of a few tests. This test will require you to answer a total of 7 questions with the following answers:
- Evacuate as quickly as possible
- A water-soaked rag
- Gently bind the burn with clean bandages
- Retreat immediately
- 1 pt. Purified Water, 2 Ash Rose, 2 Blight, 2 Soot Flower
- Fall back and engage from a distance with firearms
- End his life as mercifully as possible
Complete the test and you'll be given the next place you need to visit to complete the Physical Exam, the Charleston Herald. This place is located in the opposite side of town and crossing straight through will put you in a very situation, filled with various enemies including Super Mutants, the Scorched, and a lot more. If you want to avoid this, try rimming around the town, passing through the middle as little as possible.
Firefighter - Brawn
Once you arrive close to the objective, find some stairs on the outside of a tall building close to the nearby. Climb all the way up to enter the building. Once inside, head down a floor and head westwards. Doing so will bring you to a bridge to the next building. Cross it then drop down to the a floor below and continue in the opposite direction of the path drawn out by the red arrows. Finally, you'll arrive at the Terminal in the next building.
Once you begin the exam, a Button A will appear right in front of the Terminal. This is going to be a race, the rules are:
- Hit Button A then quickly head over to the south side of the Herald to hit the second button, Button B. Once you do that, head back to press Button A, one last time.
- Complete within 3 minutes.
- Avoid the Scorched.
Firefighter - Balls
Once you return to Button A and successfully complete the exam, it's time to head to Belching Betty. You'll find this wonderfully-named place just southwest of the Charleston Herald. When you arrive, you'll find the complete Fire Breather Set including:
- Fire Breather Helmet
- Fire Breather Uniform
- Fire Breathers Final Exam Briefing Holotape
- Anti-Scorched Training Pistol
Listen to the Holotape in your inventory for a briefing of what's about to go down, and equip everything right away, especially the Helmet as the air grows more toxic the further you enter. Continue inside until you reach the Terminal on the right of the locked door. Access it to unlock the aforementioned door.
Continue along until you reach a split; both paths are equal in Scorched infestation and both lead to your objective. Whichever way you choose, continue along the path, killing Scorched enemies that get in your way. You'll eventually arrive at your destination where you'll find an emergency beacon. Activate it to lure more Scorched out to the room.
Once you've cleared the lot, continue on until you find yourself back on the surface. Speak with Bernie here then head back to Charleston Fire Department to register yourself as a Fire Breather, on the system. Complete that then head to the second floor and enter the room next to the Terminal room. Here you'll find another button to press that will play a priority message and complete your quest.
