Mayor For a Day is a Side Quest in Fallout 76. Side Quests can provide various of rewards from XP to caps. They are displayed under the section "SIDE" of the Pip-Boy.

Government Interference
Once you've arrived at the Mayor's Office, access the Terminal here and select "Read this! [HIGH PRIORITY]", then select the titular entry. This will prompt you to head north, up Route 65 to reach the Saboteur's house. You'll find it through a door in a small warehouse. When you enter, you'll need to find 5 clues which you can do by:
- Search Scott Turner's corpse for RobCo Research Facility Keycard.
- Read the entries on the Terminal for Saboteur's Work Password.
- Look for "Safe Control" to unlock the safe on the floor, on the left of the desk.
- Search the rest of the area for the other 3 clues.
With all the clues in hand, head north to find the RobCo facility and use keycard to enter. Look for the Saboteur's office and once you've found it, access his Terminal to "Scan Likeness". This will grant you the Robot Virus Holotape, which is all you need from here, so now head back to the Watoga Municipal Center.
Elected
Speak to MAIA once you've arrived and you'll receive your next task to upload the Holotape to the marked Terminal in the Relay Tower, on the roof. It will take a total of 5 minutes to complete, at which time you must protect it from various robots and a Scorchedbeast. Successfully defend it while it uploads to complete the mission.
Doing so will earn you the Watoga Mayor Safe Combination, which you can use on the safe in the Mayor's Office. Also all the robots in Watoga will cease to be hostile, unless provoked.
Notes & Notable Loot
- The loot box you gain entrance to has either a glitch or can be looted by other players. Before completing the final quest, the safe in the Mayor's office was already open and contained 1 stimpack, 1 psycho and 8 pre-war money. Once finished uploading the holotape and protecting it for the 5 minutes, a code is given for the already opened safe and no other loot spawns in it.
