Unstable Isotope is one of the Mutations of Fallout 76 (FO76). Mutations work the same way as Traits did in the previous Fallout games, in that they apply both buffs and debuffs to the player's character.


Unstable Isotope Information

This mutation is beneficial to players who wants to be a walking radiation hazard.

  • The player has an oppoturnity to irradiate melee attackers without any side effect.


How to Get Unstable Isotope

  • Obtain mutations by idling near hazardous waste or within radiated or gas areas, eating radiated food, swimming in or drinking wasteland water. You can also contract mutations from certain enemies such as Feral Ghouls.
  • Upgrading the Starched Genes Perk to Rank 2 ensures that Radaway will not cure mutations.
  • Upgrading the Starched Genes Perk to Rank 2 ensures that no new mutations can be acquired, guaranteeing you can keep the one you like.


How to Cure Unstable Isotope

  • Mutations can only be removed by taking Radaway.
  • Mutations can be completely prevented by Upgrading and equipping the Starched Genes perk.
  • You can change your Mutation by exposing yourself to more hazards and radiation, as mutations can override each other.
  • Death does not remove mutations.

      Mutation idea; "Mind over matter" +5 intelligence -5 strenght -3 endurance Gain the ability to hold the melee attack button for 5s to unleash a telekinetic blast in a 15m radius around you. Doing no damage but knocking back all enemies significantly. Recharge time 30s and receive +25 rads evrytime you use it.

        Mutation idea; "Stable isotope" -3 endurance -3 charisma +5 strenght Periodically receive +25 rads. When above 150 rads, the next melee attack received will release a powerful nuclear blast (the size of a truck exploding). Damaging and irradiated everything it hit.
