Fallout 76 Brotherhood of Steel is one of the many Factions of the game. Factions are special groups and allegiances that the player may observe, join or aspire to during gameplay.
"Taggerdy's Thunder" was a US Army Ranger unit led by Lieutenant Elizabeth Taggerdy. She continued to lead her troops - as a Paladin - after they all joined the Brotherhood of Steel."

Where to find the Brotherhood of Steel
The Appalachian branch of the Brotherhood of Steel operated out of Fort Defiance, but it was eventually overrun by the Scorched Plague and abandoned. Players can find traces of the brotherhood in the following locations:
- Abbie's Bunker
- Camp Venture
- Grafton Dam
- Spruce Knob
- Survey camp Alpha
- Firebase Major
- Firebase LT
- Forward Station Alpha
- Big Bend Tunnel East
How to Join the Brotherhood of Steel
Locating BoS camps are easy since it's all around Appalachia. But if you want to join the faction, you'll have to start a series of faction quests at specifiec locations. To do that, here's a brief procedure on how to join the Brotherhood of Steel:
- Find Abbie's Bunker located on the northern side of The Mire region.
- Access Abbie's Terminal inside the bunker and read the entry [Fort Defiance] to start the series of faction quests.
- Complete the quest Defiance Has Fallen to obtain the location of Fort Defiance.
- Explore Fort Defiance located in the Cranberry Bog region to find the entrance of the BoS base.
- Access the Brotherhood Personnel Terminal and obtain the note "Squire Eveylyn's Journal - Page 16"
- Travel to Camp McClintock to obtain a Soldier's Certificate
- Acquire an official military ID from a DMV located at Charleston Capitol Building
- Complete the list of tasks, get your picture taken and acquire the official government seal of approval.
- Head back to Fort Defiance, access the terminal, and enlist yourself as a member of the BoS to gain entry to the base.
Gaining access to the faction's base will provide you various rewards such as weapons and outfits, plus, it will unlock a series of faction quests.
